AT HOME
Many donations WFP receive are generated through fundraising activities. If you would like to raise money for WFP there are lots of fun activities you can do, either on your own or together with your friends and school.
TREASURE HUNT
Organize a treasure hunt – if you are near a holiday season you can theme the hunt e.g. Easter egg hunt. Try to get as many children and parents in your area involved. Charge each child a fee to take part making sure you empahsize it is a charity event and all the proceeds go to the campaign you have chosen.
COOKIE BAKING
Bake some delicious cookies, pack them in little bags and sell them to your friends and teachers at school and to your family and neighbours. The more cookies you manage to sell the more money you will raise!
RECIPE BOOK
Gather together your favorite recipes and put them together in a book. Sell the book through your school, church or community centre. Try to get the photocopying donated by your school or a local business.
BALLOON POPPING!
With some friends buy a big box of a balloons. Buy a few little prizes and write the name of the prize on pieces of paper. Fill up all the balloons and in each balloon insert a note – make sure you remember to insert the special notes that bring a prize! Organize a party and ask people to buy a balloon and pop it to see if they are lucky and win one of the prizes. The more balloons you sell the more money you raise!
BOOK SALE
Ask all your friends, relatives and teachers to donate their old books. Set up a table either in school or perhaps outside church (make sure you ask permission first) and sell the books you have managed to collect. Advertise your book sale a few days before hand by putting up some posters. You could donate any left over books you cannot sell to your school or local library.
DESIGN GREETING CARDS
By yourself or together with friends create some fun and interesting greeting cards. You can sell these to your friends and teachers at school or to your neighbors and family. The more cards you sell the more money you raise!
CARWASH
With a group of friends organize a carwash for the neighbors on your street. Make sure you tell your neighbors that the money you are charging for the carwash all goes to your chosen cause. Try and chose a nice sunny day!
WALKATHON
With a group of family and friends, organize a walkathon. Print out some sponsor forms for your friends and family and encourage them to ask work colleagues or classmates to sponsor your walk. The longer you walk the more money you can raise!
JELLYBEAN COUNT
Fill a jar with jellybeans. Have people pay to guess how many beans there are in the jar. The person who gets nearest to the exact number of jellybeans wins the jar. The more people that keep guessing, the more money you can raise!
