In March 2005, WFP brought food aid to help Afghans faced with floods created by melting snow and heavy rains. River banks burst, roads were damaged and villages were flooded in areas all around the country.

WFP began distributing urgently-needed food to Afghans hit by floods on 22 March. The Potokh province received 25 tons of wheat, rice and pulses in order to meet the immediate food needs of nearly 5,000 people.
