EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Five more trucks carrying fortified noodles left Jakarta on Sunday, and more supplies are scheduled to be delivered on a daily basis.

The food is coming from supplies that WFP already had in and near Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. WFP is re-using mobile warehouses it used during the tsunami relief operations to store food in the badly-hit areas.

Yesterday evening, a joint UN emergency assessment team, led by WFP, arrived in the earthquake-hit areas to begin surveying the damage and help the Indonesian government’s relief efforts.
